Genevan Complains About Cross-Border Workers For 3 Hours, Then Drives To Annemasse To Do His Shopping

He denounces the traffic jams at the border, then joins the traffic jam at the border.

GENEVA. A resident of Eaux-Vives spent three uninterrupted hours on Saturday denouncing cross-border workers, then got in his car and drove to Annemasse to do his shopping.

“They clog everything, they take our parking spots, they say ’en vrai,’” he told his sister-in-law while looking for his reusable Carrefour bags.

The retiree then spent 50 minutes in the Moillesulaz customs queue, where he kept fuming about “all these people crossing the border for no reason.” He came back with four kilos of steak, eleven packs of bottled water and a snow tyre.

“It’s not the same,” he clarified. “They come here. I just pop over. And I’m keeping France afloat with my money. They could say thank you.”

A University of Geneva sociologist estimates that 80% of complaints about cross-border traffic are made from inside cross-border traffic. An Annemasse cashier confirmed: “They all grumble about the French. Then they ask if we take Swiss cards.”

The man plans to write to the cantonal government as soon as he gets back from the petrol station just past Bardonnex, on the French side, where he went to fill up the tank.
